App: Bríq
Developer: Patrick Carroll, Ireland
How to delete your account in the app
- Open the Bríq app and sign in.
- Go to Settings. You will find it on the Profile tab under General, or on the More tab. The screen that opens is titled Settings & Privacy.
- Scroll to the Privacy & Security section and tap Your Data Rights.
- On the Your Data Rights screen, find the Delete Your Account section.
- Tap Request Account Deletion.
- A message titled Request Account Deletion appears. Tap Request Deletion to confirm.
If you use multi-factor authentication, you will be asked to verify who you are before the request is sent.
What happens after you ask us to delete it
Your account is not deleted straight away. It is scheduled for deletion 30 days later.
You can change your mind during those 30 days. Sign back in, go to Settings & Privacy → Privacy & Security → Your Data Rights, and tap Cancel Deletion. Your account then carries on as normal.
When the 30 days are up, we delete your account. This cannot be undone.
What is deleted
When the 30 days end, your sign-in account is deleted, and everything linked to it goes with it:
- your profile and account details, including your name and email address;
- your budgets, transactions and savings goals;
- your bills and reminders;
- your tax and calculator history;
- your children’s profiles and all Kids Zone progress;
- your consent choices;
- your subscription record held in the app;
- records of failed sign-in attempts that used your email address.
None of this can be recovered afterwards.
What is kept, for how long, and why
We keep a small number of records after your account goes. Your user identifier is removed from them, and we keep each one for 12 months from the day it was created and then delete it:
- Security records — for example a record that a password was changed or that a sign-in looked unusual. Kept so we can investigate security problems and show that we handled them properly.
- Activity and audit records — a log that an action happened. Kept so we can meet our legal duty to show how data in the app has been handled.
- App performance records — for example how long a screen took to load. Kept so we can keep the app working well.
⚠ Removing the identifier does not make these records anonymous, and we would rather tell you that than claim otherwise. They still hold the IP address and the device identification string recorded at the time, and a short description of what happened. Those can point back to a person. We keep them for 12 months because we need them to investigate security problems and to show a regulator how data in the app has been handled, and then we delete them.
One more record, which deleting your account does not reach. If you asked for parental consent for Kids Zone, we hold that request — the parent’s email address, the child’s age, the time and the IP address it came from — to show the consent was given. It is not attached to your account, so deleting your account does not remove it. We keep it for 12 months and then delete it. Email privacy@briq.ie if you want it erased sooner.
Two things sit outside our control, so please deal with them yourself:
- Your subscription. If you pay for Bríq, cancel it in the App Store or Google Play. Deleting your Bríq account does not cancel a subscription you bought through a store.
- Your bank connection. If you linked a bank account, disconnect it in the app before you delete your account.
Our full retention schedule is set out in the Privacy Policy.
If you cannot sign in to the app
You can still ask us to delete your account.
Email privacy@briq.ie from the email address you used for your Bríq account, and ask us to delete the account.
We handle these requests by hand. Sending the email from your own account address lets us check that the account really is yours before we delete anything. We may ask you to confirm a code we send to that address.
Requests made this way follow the same 30-day schedule as requests made in the app.
